ADHD

Let’s face it, sometimes it sucks being neurodivergent trying to fit into a neurotypical world. Struggling to find what you need in a panic when rushing out the door, having things like your driver’s license expire before you could renew it, forgetting payments & social commitments, running late to appointments, double booking yourself, sensory overload, turn taking in conversation, the debate between taking medication or not, medication management, rx side effects, and waiting in lines…oh god the lines!!!….And it feels like no one else around you gets it. Living with ADHD can often leave you feeling perpetually misunderstood and pathologized.

However, neurodivergence can be a gift in many ways. What’s easy for others may be hard for you, but on the flip side, what’s harder for others, may actually come more naturally to you. The ability to see patterns, make connections across various subjects, unique problem solving skills, being highly empathetic, creativity, and hyperfocus can set you apart from others in the best ways.

No two people with ADHD are the same. What works for some may not for others. Deeply knowing the intricacies of your ADHD and what truly works for you can be a game changer. With the right strategies, support, and understanding, it doesn’t have to suck so much. I want to help you find ways to thrive and take pride in the truly incredible ways your brain works.

Adolescence vs. Late Adult Diagnosis

Timing on when you receive supports is key. For some teens, a diagnosis can feel like a label that makes them different from their peers. For some adults, it can feel validating to finally find out the reason why they’ve struggled for so long. Whether you’re a teen or an adult, living with ADHD without resources reinforces masking rather than effective coping strategies.

Masking is a term for the ways people with ADHD overcompensate. Overcorrecting and suppressing soothing stimming behaviors like playing with your hair or leg bouncing, having an arsenal of excuses, and trying to appear organized but feeling chaos internally can leave you exhausted by the end of the day. There’s a better way, you don’t have to hide your true self to succeed or fit in.
