About a Multicultural Approach:
Multicultural theories consider and seek to correct traditional Eurocentric perspectives that are deeply rooted in psychology. We all have blind spots. That’s ok. That’s what it means to be human. In order to provide clinically sound and ethical services, we must constantly be working on ourselves. Like our clients who need a safe and nonjudgemental environment to grow, so do we. The healer must be constantly healing themselves.
By expanding our understanding of what culture is, we can better be cognizant of the importance of context and how it applies to our clients and the therapeutic relationship.
