Pregnancy & Birth Trauma

There’s so many changes that come with pregnancy. While there’s beautiful moments like hearing your baby’s heartbeat, there’s also moments of anxiety and self doubt, your own childhood trauma, and thoughts about the way you want to parent differently can all come flooding in. Other challenges include; isolation, medical trauma, miscarriages, and loss of sense of self.

During this transformative journey, it is crucial to have a support system that understands your unique needs. I aim to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can freely express your emotions, make meaning from past experiences, and find your footing to move forward.

Sometimes, the way you imagined your birth experience going may not have gone to plan. The method of birth and who you thought would be there could leave some feeling angry and scared when looking back on the day. To add on top of that, we may hold expectations for what things will be like after giving birth.

Many struggle with bonding with their new baby and grapple with their sense of self. This period of time can be highly romanticized and many women feel like there is something wrong with them, that they aren’t living up to the role of motherhood. For some, they may struggle with PMADs, (perinatal mood and anxiety disorders) as well. Getting support for yourself isn’t selfish or a luxury, it’s an act of self-love and essential for your wellbeing.
